Baby, it's cold outside!

"And finally Winter, with its bitin', whinin' wind, and all the land will be mantled with snow." ~ Roy Bean

We're under a Winter Storm Advisory until tomorrow morning, because of this:

My little cottage at 9AM today.  Now, two hours later there is an additional 3 or 4 inches!

After he stopped growling at the snow coming down, Jack figured out he loved it!  The other animals, not so much.

So glad I'm not a fish!

It's beautiful, as long as I'm inside.  I've lived in North Carolina for 20 years now.  In those 20 years it has snowed maybe 5 times. This is our second time this year, and the third year in a row. Anybody who doesn't believe we are dealing with Global Warming must be living in a different world than I am.

Hope y'all are staying warm!

  1. Right? And some people think it's just more crazy Democratic blah blah. Global warming, says who?

Your house is so cute, don't think I've ever a picture of it before.

OMG is the snow coming my way?

I'm off to check weather. Maybe i won't be loving January quite so much if it is true.

    stay cosy.

  2. I love your little cottage! The arbor is great and I love that you put a focal point on the wall out on the porch that leads you right there. Your poor little palm trees must be in shock!

  3. And I want to move to Wilmington to get away from the snow!!
It's been snowing here for two days and we're buried under a couple FEET of snow...it is absolutely gorgeous but I need some warmth. :) Your cottage is adorable - I love the arbor and the brick steps...so charming.
    Stay warm!

  4. I am guessing your fish are hibernating at the bottom of their pool? I would have thought you would get more snow? I love your home We have snow as well. Enjoy!

  6. Hi Jane - I'm not sure if this is headed your way or not. The good news is it's supposed to be done by tomorrow. Yay!
Steve - Thanks! I don't like the fact that my front door doesn't actually face the street and that there was just blank wall space there when you walk up the front walkway. When I saw the big metal sun at a yard sale I knew it would be just the thing, and it reminds me every day that spring is on the way! I intended (still do) to add a short, black, wrought iron type fence around the front yard. Some day. Many houses in my neighborhood have cute little fences around their front yards - something I really like.
Sarah - We aren't supposed to get snow here!
Bonnie - Yes, that's exactly where the fish are. Glad i'm not a fish!
Janet - I'm with you! I would much rather visit snow than live in it. Honestly, I don't even like visiting it all that much. It does make me happy to be in a snug little house with all my furbabies.

  7. Karin,

I think your cottage is darling. I love snow, but like Janet, I don't want to live in it. We get a light dusting here in Sonoma Valley every several years, but generally, we have to drive about 3 hours to the Sierra's to see any.

Have you been keeping up the massive amounts of rain they've been getting in Australia? It's really crazy! I am more convinced now than ever that global warming is a real and very scary phenomenon.

    Stay warm and cozy!

  8. Adrienne - Yes, my daughter has a very dear friend in Australia who is keeping us informed. It IS crazy. And Europe is having a wild winter, as well.

  9. It's headed our way. Supposed to arrive on Tuesday evening. We have so much snow already!

You're right - how can anyone not believe in global warming?? There are now such extremes in weather all around the globe.
